Abstract

Research on The Effect of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) on Physical Properties of Portland Cement Type I has been conducted. GGBFS with activity class of 100 was added to Portland cement at 0% (as control), 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% variation. The characteristic of compressive strength, setting time,  autoclave expansion and sulphate expansion was tested. Compared to the control, the compressive strength of mixtures at curing time of 3 and 7 days, was lower compared to the control. But at curing time of 28 days, the compressive strength reached more than control and optimum at 50% variation of GGBFS was achieved. The addition of GGBFS at whole mixture indicated of increasing setting time, lower autoclave expansion, and lower sulphate expansion.
