OPTIMASI KONDISI REAKSI PADA SINTESIS PLASTICIZER DARI METIL OLEAT

Abstract


Reaksi epoksidasi mengubah ikatan rangkap pada senyawa olefin menjadi ikatan epoksida atau oksiran. Metil ester dari minyak nabati dengan kandungan asam lemak tak jenuh dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku pada reaksi epoksidasi. Epoksida berbasis minyak nabati memiliki potensi yang besar untuk digunakan sebagai plasticizer untuk pemrosesan polimer. Pada penelitian ini, reaksi epoksidasi dilakukan secara in-situ menggunakan asam asetat, hidrogen peroksida, dan asam sulfat sebagai katalis. Rancangan eksperimen dengan Taguchi digunakan untuk optimasi kondisi reaksi yang meliputi suhu reaksi serta perbandingan molar hidrogen peroksida dan asam asetat terhadap metil oleat. Hasil optimasi menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang paling berpengaruh terhadap yield adalah perbandingan molar asam asetat terhadap asam oleat. Yield maksimum sebesar 79,87% diperoleh pada suhu 60°C dengan perbandingan molar hidrogen peroksida dan asam asetat terhadap metil oleat berturut-turut sebesar 1,6 dan 0,3.
