KARAKTERISASI FEEDSTOCK Fe2%Ni PADA PROSES METAL INJECTION MOLDING

Abstract


Bahan baku atau bahan umpan (feedstock) merupakan bahan yang penting pada proses Cetakan Injeksi Logam (MIM). Pada penelitian ini, tiga bahan umpan dikarakterisasi untuk mengetahui jenis bahan pengikatnya (binder). Bahan umpan A (pabrikan Jepang), bahan umpan B (pabrikan Korea) dan bahan umpan C (hasil penelitian) dikarakterisasi dengan menggunakan SEM, PSA, TG-DTA, Rheometer Torque dan kelarutan. Karakterisasi SEM menunjukkan bentuk serbuk yang terdiri dari ligament, rounded, spherical, spongy. Bentuk serbuk rounded mendominasi bentuk serbuk feedstock A, B dan C. Karakterisasi PSA menunjukkan distribusi ukuran bahan umpan A,B dan C yang menyebar; bahan umpan B mempunyai ukuran serbuk paling kecil D50 = 2,04 µm di antara bahan umpan A D90 = 14.62 µm dan bahan umpan C D90 = 14,494 µm. Karakterisasi FTIR menunjukkan adanya kecenderungan gugus fungsi yang dikandung oleh Polyethylene, Ethylene Vinyl Acetate dan Paraffin Wax. Karakterisasi Rheometer menunjukkan homogenitas dari bahan umpan A,B dan C dengan nilai torque yang stabil. Pengujian kelarutan menunjukkan kelarutan bahan umpan A,B dan C tetapi hasil tersebut kurang tepat untuk menentukan komposisi bahan pengikat umpan.
